The next meeting of the Board of Directors of the Organization of World Heritage Cities will be held in Baku

According to the “Icherisheher” State Historical-Architectural Reserve Administration, the meeting will be held on 23-24 October.

As part of the cooperation with the Organization of World Heritage Cities, Askar Alakbarov, Chairman of the Administration, participated at the 14th World Congress and General Assembly meeting held in Gyeongju, Republic of Korea from October 31 to November 3 last year. The “Icherisheher” Administration has nominated its candidacy for holding the meeting of the Board of Directors which consists of the eight mayors of different cities, in Baku and the proposal was approved. The meeting of the Board of Directors provides member countries with a good opportunity to promote their cultural and historical heritage.

It is worth to mention that the Organization of World Heritage Cities, consisting of 300 cities whose monuments inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage List, established in 1993 in Morocco. The main objective of the World Heritage Convention is to promote cooperation and exchange of experiences and information on conservation and security issues, and the establishment of solidarity between member cities, with the head quarter located in the city of Quebec.
