Azerbaijan has succeeded another achievement at the 13th Session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage

 

A delegation representing our country took part in the 13th session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Port Louis, the capital of Mauritius, from 26 November to 1 December. Headed by the Deputy Foreign Minister Ramiz Hasanov, Elnur Sultanov, Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Secretary General of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO, Permanent Delegate of Azerbaijan to UNESCO Anar Karimov, Vasif Eyvazzadeh, head of the International Cooperation and Innovative Development department of the Ministry of Culture and second secretary of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO Nahid Omarov attended the session.

Head of the Information and Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Culture Intigam Humbatov said at a press conference held at the National Library, dedicated to the results of the 13th session of the Intergovernmental Committee.

Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Secretary General of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO, Elnur Sultanov reported on the results of the 13th session of the Intergovernmental Committee. He said that during the session, 48 national reports of the countries on the files inscribed on the UNESCO's List of Intangible Cultural Heritage and List in Need of Urgent Safeguarding were heard. 16 reports of these were in need of urgent safeguarding. At the same time, relevant decisions have been adopted regarding 40 nominations submitted to the Committee for inscription on the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage and 7 nominations submitted to the Committee for inscription on the List in Need of Urgent Safeguarding.
