Presentation of UNESCO clubs in Azerbaijan

The presentation of the first UNESCO clubs in Azerbaijan was held at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.on December 20 with the support of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO.

Rector of the Academy, academician Urkhan Alekperov, Ambassador-at-Large, Secretary-General of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO Elnur Sultanov, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Farhad Hajiyev, Deputy head of the Administration of the Ministry of Culture, Azerbaijan-UNESCO Clubs Coordinator Jahangir Hajiyev, as well as teachers and students from different educational institutions attended the event.

It should be noted that this year UNESCO clubs were established in a number of educational institutions of the country - the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University, Baku European School and secondary school # 20.

Rector U. Alakbarov noted the high level of Azerbaijani-UNESCO relations and highlighted the outstanding services of the First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva. He expressed confidence that the clubs will make an additional contribution to Azerbaijan's cooperation with UNESCO.

Speaking at the event, Secretary General of the National Commission E. Sultanov noted that the establishment of UNESCO clubs coincides with the 25th anniversary of the National Commission. E. Sultanov said that the National Commission was established by the relevant decree of the national leader of the Republic of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev in 1994 and spoke about the activities of the Commission. He stressed that the policy of strengthening cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNESCO was successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev. E.Sultanov said that the establishment of UNESCO clubs in our country is a new page in the Azerbaijan-UNESCO relations.

Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Farhad Hajiyev said that UNESCO attaches great importance to the youth. He talked about youth and sports policy pursued in our country and wished success to Azerbaijan UNESCO clubs.

Deputy head of the Administration of the Ministry of Culture Vasif Eyvazzade spoke about the cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNESCO in the field of culture, especially in the field of protection of tangible and intangible heritage and emphasized the importance of the creation of clubs.

Azerbaijan-UNESCO Clubs Coordinator Jahangir Hajiyev made a presentation about the establishment of clubs and spoke about their activities.

At the end, the participants exchanged views on the issue.
