The Institute of Development and Diplomacy of ADA University hosts an event of international significance

On March 14th, in Baku, an international conference on "Studying and Preserving the Historical and Cultural Heritage of the Turkic World - From the Perspective of UNESCO" began, jointly organized by the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO, the International Turkic Academy, the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, the National Commission of Turkey for UNESCO, and ADA University's Institute of Development and Diplomacy.

Farah Aliyeva, Presidential Administration's Director of Humanitarian Policy, Diaspora, Multiculturalism, and Religious Affairs Department, is participating in the event.

AZERTAC reports that at the conference, the following officials delivered opening speeches: Minister of Culture Adil Karimli, Secretary-General of the Turkic Council Kubanychbek Omuraliev, President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Aktoty Raimkulova, President of the International Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev, President of the National Commission of Turkey for UNESCO Professor Ojal Oghuz, Head of the Atatürk High Council of Culture, Language, and History Derya Ors, Chairman of the State Tourism Agency Fuad Nagiyev, and Chairman of the Administration Board of the State Historical-Architectural Reserve "Icherisheher" Shahin Seyidzadeh. Additionally, President of the UNESCO General Conference Simona-Mirela Miculescu greeted the participants via video message.

Later, the participants visited the exhibition organized by the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences on the occasion of the 950th anniversary of " Dīwān Lughāt al-Turk," which is considered the cultural heritage of the entire Turkic world.

On the first day of the conference, it is planned to hold four sessions with breaks. The sessions are structured as follows:
    • The first session, moderated by Shahin Mustafayev, President of the International Turkic Academy, will focus on national strategies and approaches for the preservation of cultural heritage in the Turkic world.
    • The second session, moderated by Aktoty Raimkulova, President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, will cover cooperation of Turkic organizations in the preservation, documentation, and dissemination of cultural heritage.
    • The third session, moderated by Osman Mert, President of the Turkic Language Council, will discuss innovative approaches and essential tasks for the preservation and dissemination of cultural heritage.
    • The final session, moderated by Seymur Fətəliyev, Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Secretary-General of the National Commission of Azerbaijan for UNESCO, will focus on the cooperation of national commissions in the field of cultural heritage preservation.

These sessions aim to delve into various aspects of preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Turkic world.

Note that on the second day of the two-day conference, there is a session planned that will encompass substantial collaboration among national commissions on the preservation of cultural heritage, including discussions at roundtables. Through this event convened in Baku, organizational leaders will visit the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum to view Turkic clothing, carpets, and ornaments on display. They will also tour Icherisheher (the Maiden Tower and the Palace of the Shirvanshahs complex) to become better acquainted with our country's cultural heritage.
