This was reported to Azertag by the Museum of Literature. Academician R.Huseynov highlighted that the UNESCO General Conference convenes all of its members every two years and elects the Executive Board every four years. He noted that this body prepares the General Conference and monitors the implementation of its decisions.

"Being one of the 58 countries selected from 193 countries and being a member of the Executive Board has greatly increased the opportunities to directly influence the solution of many matters within UNESCO during the four-year period of the presence in the relevant Board," he said. He added that the country, which is a member of the Executive Board, also obtains opportunities to support and assist other member states in the implementation of important projects within UNESCO.

Academician R. Huseynov praised the election of our country as a member of the UNESCO Executive Board as a very gratifying and historically significant event, noting that it is one of the remarkable achievements of Azerbaijan at the international level. According to him, 143 member countries voted for the election of Azerbaijan to the Executive Board. This is the result of hard, consistent and effective work.

Noting that Azerbaijan is an ancient and rich country of culture, the academician said that thanks to culture, our country can confidently face and prevail any state whose territory, population, economic strength, military power and other indicators are many times greater than Azerbaijan. He stressed that culture should be considered the most effective and magnificent, delicate and far-sighted policy for our people, and congratulated our state and people on this joyous event, which took place on the National Revival Day in the national calendar.
