The 30th anniversary of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO was celebrated

The 30th anniversary of the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO was commemorated with a classical music concert.

AZERTAC reports that at the concert held in the historic Nieuwe Kerk church in The Hague, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Rahman Mustafayev, spoke about the creation of the UNESCO National Commission, Azerbaijan's cultural heritage, its contributions to world culture, as well as the First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva's contributions to Azerbaijan-UNESCO relations and the promotion of our culture. He provided information about 23 examples from Azerbaijan included in UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, such as mugham, and national musical instruments like the tar and kamancha. The ambassador also discussed Azerbaijan's composers and their contributions to world culture.

Then the event continued with the concert program. The concert started with an overture from the operetta "Arshin Mal Alan" by the legendary composer Uzeyir Hajibeyli. Azerbaijan's Honored Artists Afaq Abbasova, Nargiz Aliyeva, Jeyla Seyidova, as well as international competition laureates Ibrahim Babayev and Asim Khalilov performed works by eminent composers such as Uzeyir Hajibeyli, Fikrat Amirov, Gara Garayev, Tofig Guliyev, and Vasif Adigozalov.

Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in the country, leaders of international organizations, Azerbaijan's diaspora, and members of the local community participated in the concert.
