10th Interregional Meeting of National Commissions for UNESCO Member States is held in Paris

The 10th Interregional Meeting of National Commissions for UNESCO Member States was held in Paris. Organized within the framework of the 42nd session of the UNESCO General Conference, the meeting was attended by the organization's executive team, representatives, and secretaries-general of national commissions for UNESCO.

AZERTAC reports that at the meeting, annual reports on projects and activities implemented throughout 2022 by national commissions for UNESCO were presented. Discussions were held on bilateral and multilateral cooperation initiatives, emphasizing the support provided by national commissions to UNESCO's projects and activities.

During the meeting, the presentation of the annual journal "National Commissions for UNESCO," published by UNESCO, took place. The journal provided detailed information about projects and activities carried out by the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO in 2022. Specifically highlighted was the "Youth Art Workshop," implemented from August 26 to September 5 in Baku and Shusha, involving 16 young painters from various countries. Additionally, the international conference on "The Role of UNESCO Conventions in the Preservation of Cultural Heritage and Aspects of their Enhancement," held from December 7 to 8 with the participation of 20 experts from 10 different countries, was discussed.

The report extensively covered a training program organized jointly by ADA University and the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO, aimed at the secretaries-general and representatives of UNESCO's national commissions from 14 African countries.

It was also reported that a comprehensive article was published about the musical evening dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of composer Fikrat Amirov, held on November 3, 2022, at UNESCO's headquarters in Paris.

Additionally, it was informed that during the 17th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO, held in Rabat, the capital of Morocco, several multinational nominations were included in UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. These nominations included " Wrestling culture: traditional zorkhana games, sports and wrestling," "Tea culture - symbol of identity, hospitality and social exchange," "Oral tradition of Molla Nasreddin jokes," and "Traditional silk production techniques of barama, ipak, and toki"
