Information on the activities of the Azerbaijani National Commission for UNESCO was provided
2025-04-08Within the framework of the 221st session of the UNESCO Executive Board, the traditional meeting of National Commissions was held. The meeting highlighted the cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNESCO.
According to AZERTAC, during the 221st session of the UNESCO Executive Board, Gunel Zulfugarova, a representative of Azerbaijan’s National Commission for UNESCO, delivered a speech at the traditional meeting of National Commissions.
Speaking about Azerbaijan-UNESCO cooperation, the representative of the National Commission provided detailed information about the initiatives carried out and planned within this collaboration for 2024–2025, as well as about the Commission’s ongoing projects.
She also spoke about the international scientific-practical conference titled “Protection of Ancient Human Settlements: Threats and Modern Approaches,” organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan at the Heydar Aliyev Center. It was noted that UNESCO was represented at a high level at this conference. Experts, researchers, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from other countries also participated in the event.
Information was also provided about the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, which Azerbaijan will host, including the expected participation of UNESCO representatives.
The representative also spoke about training programs organized in cooperation with ADA University for the Secretaries-General of National Commissions for UNESCO from many African countries, emphasizing that these programs are part of efforts to support the development of those countries and will continue in the future.
