The traditional meeting of National Commissions was held within the framework of the 221st session of the UNESCO Executive Board

Within the framework of the 221st session of the UNESCO Executive Board, the traditional meeting of National Commissions was held.

According to AZERTAC, Azerbaijan was represented at the meeting by the National Commission of the Republic of Azerbaijan for UNESCO and its Permanent Delegation to the organization.

The meeting, held in a hybrid format at UNESCO Headquarters, was opened by Firmin Edouard Matoko, Assistant Director-General for Priority Africa and External Relations. Following the election of the Chair of the meeting, the plenary session continued with discussions. Topics such as strengthening education for peace and culture on the global agenda were presented and discussed. The meeting continued with a presentation on the role of National Commissions.

The plenary agenda also included the First Global Youth Forum of UNESCO Associations and Clubs, the 14th UNESCO Youth Forum scheduled to be held in conjunction with the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand, and presentations on the development of human rights within UNESCO.

It should be noted that the 221st session of the UNESCO Executive Board will continue until April 17. During the session, a new Director-General of UNESCO will be elected.
