The 16th meeting of the UNESCO Committee for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict has started

The 16th meeting of the UNESCO Committee for the Protection of Cultural Property in in the Event Armed Conflict has started.

AZERTAG reports that Azerbaijan is represented at the meeting as a member of the Committee for the Protection of Cultural Property in in the Event. At the meeting, Azerbaijan is represented by permanent delegate of Azerbaijan to UNESCO, Elman Abdullayev.

 

The report of the secretariat will be heard at the committee meeting. Besides, strengthening the synergy between the 1954 Hague Convention and its two protocols and other UNESCO cultural conventions, and the implementation of the "Heritage for Peace" thematic program will be also discussed at the respective meeting. Amendments to the 1999 Second Protocol Guidelines will be discussed and adopted.

The agenda of the meeting includes the mobilization of resources for the implementation of the 1954 Hague Convention and its two Protocols (1954 and 1999), the report on the implementation of international aid to Afghanistan, Barbados, Burkina Faso and Mexico, the hearing of national reports on the implementation of the 1954 Hague Convention and its two protocols (1954 and 1999), monitoring of the implementation of the Second Protocol of 1999 and discussion of control mechanisms.

It should be noted that the Committee for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict of the Second Protocol to the Hague Convention of 1954 on the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict consists of twelve member states. These states meet once a year.

On November 17 this year, our country was elected a member of the Executive Board of UNESCO for 2021-2025, and on November 30, the Committee for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict for 4 years.

The 16th meeting of the UNESCO Committee for the Protection of Cultural Heritage in Armed Conflict will be held by December 3, 2021.
