Events dedicated to the Restoration of Azerbaijan’s Independence and the 880th anniversary of Nizami Ganjavi were held in Ankara

A ceremony was held in Ankara on October 18 - on the occasion the Day of Restoration of Independence in Azerbaijan and the 880th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Nizami Ganjavi.

Azertag reports that the event was jointly organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Turkey, the National Commissions of Azerbaijan and Turkey for UNESCO, which was attended by officials, including ambassadors, deputies, as well as delegations led by the Chairman of the Committee for International Relations and Inter-Parliamentary Connexions of the Azerbaijani Parliament Samad Seyidov and the Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Azerbaijan (Ombudsman) Sabina Aliyeva.

Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey Serdar Cham, Ambassador of Azerbaijan Rashad Mammadov to Turkey, and Acting Chairman of the National Commission of Turkey for UNESCO made a speech in the official part of the ceremony.

Then the event continued with a remarkable music program.

The “People's Artist of Azerbaijan” Mansum Ibrahimov impressed everyone with his colorful repertoire and miraculous voice during the event. The singer was accompanied by the “People's Artist of Azerbaijan” Elchin Hashimov (tar), the “Honored Artist” Kamran Karimov (drums) and Parviz Farhadov (kamancha). In the second act of the concert, soloists Demet Gurhan and Khosrov Hakan Amiri accompanied Gular Damirova on the piano.

The audience greeted the spectacular performance with warm applauses.
